Camponotus noveboracensis is a species of North American Carpenter ant first described by Fitch in 1855. Whilst it's found coast to coast in the northern USA, it is far more common in the east than in the west. Creighton noted in the 1950's that this ant is primarily found in latitudes between 40° and 48°.

It tends to live in wooded areas, nesting in well rotted tree stumps and logs where colonies reach a mature size of around 10,000 individuals.
