Lasius fuliginosus is a European ant species.The ant is readily recognisable from its distinct shiny jet black colour and heart-shaped head.
Due to its appearance L. fuliginosus is known as the 'Jet ant' or 'Jet Black ant'.
Distrubition in the UK is limited to Southern England and Wales. Lasius fuliginosus has also been found in isolated pockets in Southern Ireland.
