The Republic of Singapore is an island country off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, in Southeast Asia. It is separated from Malaysia by the Straits of Johor to its north, and from Indonesia's Riau Islands by the Singapore Strait to its south.

Singapore consists of 62 islands, exclusive of mainland Singapore (Pulau Ujong).

Singapore has on-going land reclamation projects with land being obtained from its own hills, the seabed, and neighbouring countries.

Singapore has a tropical rainforest climate and as such is a highly biodiverse region.

The ant fauna is representative of this diversity and there are over 90 described species. Ant subdamilies include:

Aenictinae, Amblyoponinae, Aneuretinae, Cerapachyinae, Dolichoderinae, Dorylinae, Ecitoninae, Ectatomminae, Formicinae, Leptanillinae, Myrmicinae, Paraponerinae, Ponerinae, Proceratiinae and Pseudomyrmecinae.
