Barry Bolton is a retired (2004) British myrmecologist, considered to be the world's leading expert on classification, systematics and taxonomy of ants.
Bolton was the ant taxonomist in the Department of Entomology at The Natural History Museum (formerly the British Museum) from 1971 to 2004, though he has been retained as a Scientific Associate.
